CAMPS AND LODGES

Tanzania travel guide and Tanzania travel packages by Translen Investment  We offer you a wide range of excellent Tanzania travel game lodges and tented campsite accommodation to choose from. In Tanzania we can also offer you different standards and quality of Tanzania travel accommodation, each directly impacting on the total safari travel costs, but offering you the widest possible safari budget options.

Luxury and semi luxury game lodges: The luxury and semi-luxury Tanzania travel lodges are usually located in superb surroundings. Rooms are tastefully furnished and of a very high quality and provide magnificent views over the game parks. These game lodges belong to either the Sopa or Serena lodge groups, the latter are more expensive and offer the ultimate in Tanzania travel luxury.

Standard game lodges: The standard game lodges resemble 3 star hotel accommodation. Some travel lodges feature swimming pools, a bar and all meals are served in restaurants. All rooms offer en-suite bathrooms and are air-conditioned and good value for money travel accommodation.

Permanent tented camps: The accommodation quality of the permanent camps are similar or superior to that of the standard lodges, but accommodation is in individual, large canvas sided tents erected on platforms. All tents offer private en-suite bathroom facilities with hot showers. All the tented camps feature high quality restaurants, bars and some have swimming pools. Not all Tanzania national parks have tented camps on offer. Should you choose this option for a safari and a tented camp is not available in a specific Tanzania national park, then standard lodge accommodation will be used and your safari charged accordingly.

Adventure camping: All our adventure camping safaris use public campsites, which all offer basic facilities including communal toilets, washing areas, hot showers and usually a bar. At campsites all meals are served outside, using tables and chairs. In case of rain, a shelter or mess tent is provided. Standard tents are used unless otherwise requested. All our adventure camping safaris are accompanied by a driver / guide and a cook.

Tours and Safaris in Tanzania

Tanzania is home to 7 World Heritage Sites and a whopping 38% of the country is devoted to the preservation of nature. If this conjures up an image of a beautiful country well worth a visit, then you are spot on! Our tours and safaris below this intro offer a selection of Tanzanian highlights or we can tailor-make a Tanzania safari for you while you brush up on your Swahili greetings!

Safari favourites in Tanzania’s north include Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Mount Kilimanjaro and Tarangire National Park all accessed via Arusha. The Serengeti is famous for the Great Migration, an annual journey of 2 million wildebeest, zebra and various antelope that circulates around the Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Closely monitored by a throng of lion, leopard, hyaena and cheetah, this phenomenal spectacle is determined by rainfall and grazing which varies from year to year.

Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera, also offers superb big 5 game viewing providing sanctuary to around 25,000 animals. Nearby Olduvai Gorge is renowned for archaeological discoveries of the earliest known human remains and the Ngorongoro area offers opportunities to interact with local Maasai tribes.

Further east, the sight of Mount Kilimanjaro will take your breath away. If you are fit and healthy, the 5896m/19,343ft ascent to Kili’s summit is a serious undertaking but achievable without ropes or technical climbing experience.
Southern Tanzania is dominated by Selous Game Reserve, a less congested safari alternative to Tanzania’s popular northern parks. And what better way to round off a safari than a spell on the picture-perfect beaches of Zanzibar.

The best time to visit Tanzania for wildlife viewing is the dry season from late June to October and March/April is the rainy season peak. The wildebeest calve from late January to February in the southern Serengeti and the herd resides in the northern Serengeti and Maasai Mara from late July to mid October. Typically, the wildebeest cross the Grumeti and Mara Rivers from late August to late September.
